Review on VLCC - Bombay - Mumbai

Today, I read Review about VLCC - Bombay - Mumbai on Mouthshut.com – The Consumer Review Website.

I am a VLCC flag-waver now. And Guys, Believe me, VLCC, has really ‘Come Up’, in its Products & Services.

How I got close to them, is thanks to my Fav Salon ‘SARLA’S SALON’. (I have written a review also on them). VLCC happens to be in the next building & every week, when I go to Sarla’s for my Head Massage & Manicures, Pedicures, I wud be tempted to visit VLCC, seeing their ‘Fight Obesity’ promotional campaigns.

I suddenly realized that I had been ‘hogging’ too much & my weight was spoiling my cute figure (hehehe!!), so I just wanted to do something fast & get rid of all that extra fat. And I am absolutely not the type to ‘Exercise’ (Yeeps !!) Its too tough. Keeping Diets, well I wud surely have to do 1 thing atleast, to shed off all those extra kilos, I gather on my Tours & binging !

So finally I mustered up enough courage to walk into VLCC & take a peek at their services. Having experienced ‘Paisa Kaya, Kaya’, I was a bit hesitant, but then I thought, let me give it a ‘try’ !

At first, as I expected, it was the usual Blah Blah Marketing Lectures, & I was in no mood to listen, to the well-dressed staff. Then I read a poster which said, “Now Lose 5 Kgs for just Rs. 4999/-“. It was a monsoon offer going on, & I decided to take a little gamble. So I enrolled & swiped my credit card. I was allotted 5 sessions of ‘tummy tuck’. (I’m very particular about having a nice flat tummy !! hehe!!).

I was then taken to a room & measured from all angles by a huge fat lady assistant.(Female Assistants for Ladies, Male Assistants for Guys). Then I was taken to meet my Nutritionist. She explained all about Excess Weight & talked about Diets. I must add here, that VLCC Nutritionists / Doctors / Centre Managers are ‘Real Good’ in convincing people & making them realize the importance of staying Fit & Healthy.
I usually ‘cringe’ at the word ‘Diet’, but what she said made sense & I decided to do ‘Dieting’ in ‘My Own Way’, as her instructions were too tedious to follow! So I just suddenly stopped having Dinner. I stopped Sweets & Rice (very rarely though !) & I started having lots of fruits. And I began going for the Sessions. WOW !!, I must truly tell U guys, it’s a wonderful experience, this ‘Tummy Tuck’. (I used to earlier think, that ‘tummy tuck’ meant, ‘cutting your tummy & then tucking it back into shape’…..hehehehe!!). Actually this is what it was.

First, you take off ur clothes & get into the VLCC Robe, & go to the weighing machine & then to the ‘BMI’ (Body Mass Index calculator machine. After that, you are taken into the massage rooms & a nice fat lady masseur starts working on you. They do some Vibrator treatment & with the force they used, I felt I wud become flat as ‘paper’ after the session !! hehe!!

Review on Daikin FT50GV1G6

Today, I read Review about Daikin FT50GV1G6 on Mouthshut.com – The Consumer Review Website.

DO CHECK THE PICS.
i was highly overwhelmed with my first daikin purchase,a year back.the model then purchased was the 1.8 ton non-inverter,FT60GV1G6. it cools the living area of 250sqft,and the
experience so far has been more than satisfactory.the ac is a pleasure to use,and on can completely rely one the daikin products, given the reputation of the world leader in climate control they have.1 year on,the outdoor unit retains the same look-no faded parts,no faded brand sticker, and no degraded sheet metal parts.after sales service of this particular brand is excellent, calls are promptly attented to,and the quality of workmanship is excellent.

however, the hitachi logicool i,of which i had been a great admirer, had started showing difficulties while working.it had been 9 yrs since it was put to service, and it had been relentlessly workin thorughout the harsh delhi summers.i never had any problem encountered with that ac,however given the fact that i reside in close proximity to noida, the corrosive atmosphere had shown no mercy on the window ac,and it made sense to buy a new one,a split which is more resistant to this atmosphere, and of course,it has its usual benefit.also, the efficiency of acs in general has improved a lot,so this was also a fact which was pressing enough.window ac as a new purchase was out,as the reason is stated,so i didn't waste my time looking at them either.

then began my usual search for a split ac,which met my requirements.since .the ac was supposed to cool an area of 170sq ft ,master bedroom of the top floor flat in delhi, where temperatures reach as high as 45.c.also,the outdoor unit was to be subjected to strong sunshine, draught and rain-since it was to
be placed on the roof, like my previous one.
so keeping these facts in mind,i shortlisted the following brands.
at first was the usual ogeneral AGA18ACT-no matter what people say about the company,i always liked its products, and one of my purchases has been working for the past 7 yrs now.but i was forced to reconsider, given the fact the pathetic after sales service, and irresponsible service franchisees.however,i still maintain that the products are excellent

Review on Mausam Songs

Today, I read Review about Mausam Songs on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

The much awaited album is finally out .Does it deliver ?Lets check out ...

Rabba Main Toh Mar Gaya Oye-Shahid Mallya
The album opens in a brilliant note with ’Rabba Main Toh Mar Gaye
oye’. The music played at the beginning has a very haunting feel to it .The lyrics too are quit poetic and have a very soothing feel to them .The song has all the tapings of an evergreen number .It grips you from the first hearing itself .At the end you are sure to get hooked up to the point of giving it a second consecutive listen .This love song makes you fall in love with it .A complete gem !

Sajh Dhaj Ke-Mika Singh and Pankaj Kapoor
Rustic! That’s the most apt word to describe ‘Sajh Dhaj Ke’ .The song is set in a rural atmosphere and lyrics are in complete sync with them .The song is about how someone who has travelled to the city has forgotten about his roots .Quite a fun number, it makes you groove throughout its duration .

Ik Tu Hi Tu Hi-Hans Raj Hans
A slow number which narrates the circumstances where the lovers have drifted apart .It takes its own sweet time to grow .Hans Raj Hans sounds quite tragic here and his voice only takes the song to another level .But this song may not be everyone’s cup of tea .

Review on Apple iPod Shuffle

Today, I read Review about Apple iPod Shuffle on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

Apple- the fruit always fascinated me since my childhood. My early summers were spent in mango orchids and winters in guava orchids. Apple was a fruit that was always costlier than other fruits (in northern area). I have grown up but the fascination still remains- not to the fruit but to the gadget.

I was planning to have an Apple product since long time but the exorbitant pricing stopped me. I needed something portable for listening music while I am walking or am in gym. The need was to purchase a portable MP3 player and what is better than Apple iPod Shuffle 2GB- with its cute little size and Apple branding.

Looks & Design- It is a square aluminum case that comes in array of bright colors (silver, orange, blue, pink, and green). I choose blue color to match the color of my N8.

It has got a white navigation circular pad to adjust the volume and skip tracks. In the middle of the circle sits a Pause/Play button. It’s generally easy to press these buttons without looking. It looks rock solid and durable with its scratch-free aluminum finish. It is having a clip on the back, which is sturdy enough to cling even to thin layers of clothing.

It has got a Voice Over button on the top of it, between the headphone jack and On/Off switch. This feature announces the names of playlists, tracks, and artists, as well as the battery status. Just press this button to hear the name of the track and artist you’re listening to, and press and hold it to hear the names of various playlists loaded on it. Press the button twice to hear the battery status.

It has 2 Gigabytes of storage capacity, but actually provides 1.88GB of usable space, with 1.83GB initially available for audio content.

It charges through its own USB cable that connects through the 3.5mm headphone jack and has a switch letting users turn the device off, or play playlists in order or in Shuffle mode. I can even charge it from my N8 thatz a big plus for me. It is rated for 15hrs music playback.

Review on Adaalat

Today, I read Review about Adaalat on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

I watched a few episodes this serial because:
- A mouthshut review posted earlier recommended it
- It generally airs on Fri & Sat (I am not sure if it comes on ay other days too) before a fun to
watch serial on Sony TV (Comedy Circus), so I generally end up watching about 20 minutes towards the end of this serial before comedy circus begins

I am a big fan of murder mysteries; have watched and read Sherlock Holmes adventures many times. May be that’s why my benchmarks are already set quite high. The Indian writers (especially those who write for TV serials) have rarely touched those benchmarks, let alone surpassing them. I had watched a few episodes of another popular serial CID; I found it hilarious to say the least. The CID almost everytime says at the scene of crime: "Oh God! Yahan toh laash hai." LOL!! I mean come on, you have been called on the crime scene to investigate a murder; what else do you expect to see? A pole dancer?? No offences meant to CID lovers :-P

The serial is supposed to be a court room drama where KD Pathak (played by Ronit Roy) saves innocent people from being sentenced to death by unraveling the mystery and the real culprit.

This serial is only slightly better than CID in terms of plot and performances. I recently watched their full 2 hour Maha-episode (or whatever rubbish the TV guys call such episodes) where KD and a bunch of cartoons travel on a private plane and that crashes on an unknown island. People start getting murdered one by one and it is up to KD to save the episode and his ex-flame of 10 years. A clever play of words finally solves the real mystery. Of some 5-6 episodes that I have watched of this serial, this was probably slightly better than the rest.

Review on One Two Buckle My Shoe - Agatha Christie

Today, I read Review about One Two Buckle My Shoe - Agatha Christie on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

Of all the visits to the doctors the most dreaded one is that to the dentist. One feels the most vulnerable and helpless in a dentist’s chair. That is exactly how Poirot feels when he pays a visit to 58,Queen Charlotte Street, one fine morning for one of his regular half yearly sitting with his dentist Mr. Morley not knowing that it’s the last time he’s visiting his chamber or seeing him alive. The same afternoon Mr. Morley is found dead in his chamber. Scotland Yard is unable to decide whether it is suicide or murder. The mystery deepens when another patient of Dr. Morley, Mr. Amberiotis, dies due to wrong ministration of medicines injected during dental treatment. Inspector Japp, investigating the case, jumps to the conclusion that Mr. Morley mistakenly gave the fatal dosage, felt guilty later having realized the blunder and committed suicide. But Poirot thinks not. The Belgian detective’s suspicion is proven correct when another of Mr. Morley’s hapless patient Ms. Sainsbury Seale mysteriously goes missing one night after having walked out of her hotel for a stroll. Not to overlook the political angle to the catastrophes, Mr. Alfred Blunt, the man behind England’s financial stronghold, has two narrow escapes from death. Reason? The anarchists believe that removing him will help usher a new order. Oh yes! Incidentally, Mr. Blunt is also one of the celebrity patients of Mr. Morley.

He invites Poirot to solve the case of the missing Ms. Seale because her disappearance troubles him. As the plot takes its usual Christie-ian twists and turns, the reader is caught in the roller coaster ride of murders, attempted murders, disappearances, lover’s dilemmas and what not. Here I shall seal my mouth (nay, pen, nay keyboard) and let the readers crave for more. But to know more one must read another of Christie’s mind boggling murder mysteries – “One Two Buckle My Shoe”.

Review on HTC Wildfire S

Today, I read Review about HTC Wildfire S on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

The era of smartphones have definitely arrived and people are now tired of the silly old cell phones that only allow us to make calls, text messages and take great pictures. Today, smartphones are the buzz of the town because they can let us do hundred different things that we could only imagine. However, smartphones are way to costly and finding a cheap budget smartphone would mean that you will have to compromise on the quality of the product. In 2010, HTC came out with HTC Wildfire which had everything that people would like in a budget smartphone. However, many users felt that the screen resolution was not up to the mark and it had Android 2.1 Eclair which is very much outdated.

To keep up with the market competition and to impress the budget conscious consumers, HTC has once again tried to upgrade the level and launched HTC Wildfire S which is the updated version of the HTC Wildfire. I have the HTC Wildfire S with me now for a week, I have explored various features and options and I found that this smartphone could be the best budget smartphone available in the market.

WHY?

Previously, I have used many Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung cell phones but I find HTC Sense UI very interesting. Its not only easy, its addictive to the core. You have the option to customize so many things in it that you virtually decide how your phone software should work for you. So, you dont let the software tell you how you should work, but instead you choose the options of how you want the software to work. The features are very people centric. For instance, when you go to People (Contacts) you can click on that one contact and you see all the options on one single screen. So when I need to make a call I touch on that contact and I see all the features lined up, like Call - SMS - Email - Facebook ID and every other possible contact way that is there on the same screen.

On the other hand, you can drag and drop any application anywhere on the phone and it will work. There are 7 home screens and you can modify it the way you want it. You dont even need to cut copy paste any thing because you just drag and drop the applications from one section to another. The menu section is divided into 3 categories. All / Frequent and Downloaded. In All you obviously see all applications, in Frequent you see only those applications that you use frequently and of course all your downloaded applications are in Downloaded category.

Review on Godrej GWF 650 FDHP

Today, I read Review about Godrej GWF 650 FDHP on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

I have bought this machine (Godrej GWF 650 FDHP, Top loading) in the month of Oct 2010 during Dussera/Diwali time, to make sure I get some discounts and some festival gifts.

You will find its Pros
n Cons below.

Requirements:

We have been using BPL Semi-automatic washing m/c for last 8 years, though it had its share of issues, served its purpose till date but it gave up as the Dryer motor stopped working. The technician too advised to go for new one rather than investing on the new motor.

My requirement is simple.
1) Upgrading the semi-automatic to Automatic (thus earning a WOW from ladies at home;) ) 2) should be reasonably priced when compared with semi-auto’ washing m/cs.3)Should serve a family with 6 members (+ regular flow of guests).4) Ease of operation is a high priority as my mom shouldn’t feel the absence of my wife at any time as hindrance to run the machine on her own.

Research:
I started looking out, starting from the Best to Worst. Checked out all the machines from IFB, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG and Godrej, both top n front loading. Here I was struck a bit, if I should go for Front or Top loading. Now the research was centered around this.I compared the prices. The Best Front load m/c costing arnd/above 30K where as the Best Top load was avlbl at half the price. If i pulled down the expectations, I can still get Front load arnd 22-24K. I focused on IFB machines, the 5 kg model was close to 22 K but 6.5 KG was a bit expensive. LG and Samsung were arnd 22 +.While the Top load ones where avlbl between 12k to 16 K max.
As I wanted to go for bigger one, at least 6.5 KG, I found the Front loaders proving expensive atleast 8K bucks.
I started to look at Top loaders chalking out +ves when compared with Front loaders.
The Top loaders , as I mentioned less expensive, it will be easy to operate for ladies, no need to bend on their knees (my wife then was carrying and mom has knee issues), it allows all sorts of clothes put together and washed ( doesn’t beg focus on type of clothes everytime), can be interrupted any time during the cycle (happens most of the time), though automatic, looks down to earth (as mom used to old semi auto m/cs). Though it is supposed to consume more water when compared with Front loaders(i read somewhere), the water is no issue in my present residence. Also power is not much constraint (either availability or the consumption).

Review on Mainland China Restaurant - Bangalore

Today, I read Review about Mainland China Restaurant - Bangalore on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

I had high expectations from this place. Reserved for two on a Saturday afternoon and opted for Buffet. They gave Prawn Coriander Soup which was good. Starters started comin in. There were fried crispy veg, steamed chicken momos, fried dimsums, some chicken starter and fish starter. Don’t ask me the names :) I eat only chicken. Steamed chicken momos were great among all these. There was complimentary Herbal Tea too which is nothin but tea leaves in hot water, but I still liked it and got it refilled a few times.

For main course, there was Prawn Fried Rice which was just plain rice with some prawns n egg thrown in. It was absolutely bland and tasteless. Then there was Noodles, which was li’l better than the Fried Rice with some colour and taste. There were chicken, prawn and fish gravies to go with the Noodles and Rice and some dry crab dish. All of these were very average and tasteless. I don’t know what exactly was missing. It was not just the spice that was missing.

The waiter noticed us trying hard to eat the main course and said"Hope you are enjoyin the food" to which we replied "Kind of. Starters were good but cant say the same about the main course". He immediately informed his manager who came to us and asked if he could send some other dishes(not on the buffet menu) and insisted on it. I didn’t wanna trouble them but my friend agreed to the manager’s suggestion coz we deserve it for the kind of money we are payin. Then followed Noodles and Fried rice which had some spice and taste this time, Ginseng Chicken which was good, some Prawn gravy which was great and some Fish gravy which my friend said was good too. The Manager’s manager too came to us to ask if we liked the new dishes. This is Customer Service at it’s best, not because they gave us new dishes, but because they followed up on those dishes too!

Review on I Too Had a Love Story - Ravinder Singh

Today, I read Review about I Too Had a Love Story - Ravinder Singh on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

I too had a love story

~Tere Jaane ka asar kuch aisa hua mujh par,
Tujhe dhoondate dhoondate, maine khud ko paa liya".

This amazing
book has touched my heart. I never expected someone to be so much in love that he forgot how to live his own life. There’s only one thing in life on which we don’t have any control and that is Death. We cannot stop letting things happen on their own. We’re not a wizard who knows what will happen next and within a play of seconds we will change it. Life has some bitter lessons which we can only learn while suffering through pain. When we face something which we don’t wish to accept it, tears us apart. “I too had a love story”will make you cry, will make you realize there’s someone in your life to whom you love a lot, before time runs away cherish every passing moment with that someone special in your life.

They met through Shaadi.com, looking for each other and finally fell in love. They didn’t know that their love will last for few months only? Love survived but one of them died.

Ravinder- is a cool guy who has been working with an IT software company. After returning from reunion with his four friends, he felt like registering himself on Shaadi.com. For several months, he kept on going through different profiles and didn’t find them interested at all. After one month, a girl named Khushi left a message for him. They started talking on phone and in the first call, they discovered about their likes, dislikes, friends and family. Slowly and slowly they came closer and fell in love.Ravin used to treat her as the most special girl in his life. Their love was adorable in terms of “How they used to treat each other when it rained, when they met and roam around”. The journey which started from Shaadi.com was about to turn into a blissful marriage. With huge anticipation and excitement, they were getting engaged on 14 Feb, when Khushi met with an accident. Ravin’s life became stagnant and for few days, he felt like a dead soul. He came to visit her in the hospital where her condition was serious. Doctors didn’t give any positive news of saving her life. She was suffering through every hour and finally she turned from a living being into a dead soul. She was gone and left so many memories for him to be happy and sad in life.

Review on Banana Leaf - Andheri

Today, I read Review about Banana Leaf - Andheri on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

Banana Leaf is an excellent place for people who haven’t had the chance to try real South Indian food. My South Indian friends who’ve been there say that the food is pretty authentic. I’d previously tried yummy South Indian food thanks to my brother, who studied in Matunga and introduced us to the South Indian restaurants close to his college (I think one was called Sharda), but Banana Leaf makes life easier since it’s closer to home. The menu covers vegetarian dishes from all the southern states, be it Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka.
The menu is divided into soups, wadai, idli, uttapams, dosa, rice plate, vegetable dishes, mini meals, accompaniments, snacks, sandwiches, desserts, and beverages. I’d strongly recommend skipping the sandwich section altogether... like they say, "When in Rome, do as the Romans," similarly when in a South Indian restaurant, focus on the South Indian food. So lets look at the different South Indian options available, and there are plenty!

You can start with soups, I’ve never tried the soups here, so I won’t be able to comment. If you look at the wadai section and you’re not worried about deep-fried food, you must try their mysore bonda... it’s nice and fluffy and comes to you steaming hot and delicious. The other wadas taste pretty similar to the usual wadas you get at udipi restaurants, not really special. And being a Punjabi, I can’t bring myself to try a dahi-wada at a South Indian restaurant, although I’m sure it’ll be good. I can tell you my favorite thing from the idli section is the hyderabadi tomato korma with idli. This is a delicious dish with a thick, tangy tomato gravy and pieces of soft, spongy idli. It tends to be pretty spicy, so ask that they cut down on the spice quotient when you place the order (if your spice threshold is low).

I’ve never tried an uttapam at Banana Leaf, although the roasted onion garlic uttapam has caught my eye and is on my next-time list :) I’ve tried plenty from their dosa section... the rava masala dosa has to be my favorite, even though the amount of ghee on it makes me cringe. But it’s really delicious, with different flavors and textures that hit your palate all together. I also love their udipi masala dosa, which is a regular masala dosa. They also have interestingly different-sounding dosas like honey coconut dosa, but so far I haven’t been too experimental... I figured I’ll try out all the authentic food and then move on to the exotic, different-sounding ones (if at all).

Review on Samsung Metro C 3322

Today, I read Review about Samsung Metro C 3322 on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

My loss of my previous dual sim mobile in an APSRTC in Hyderabad recently compelled me to look out for another mobile according to my need. The features I was looking out for were dual sim, clear display, good audio clarity in calls and music and basic internet accessibility in an affordable price range of below Rs 5k. After reviewing different options I zeroed in on Samsung Metro C-3322 model which is a new launch. I paid Rs 3900/- and another Rs 100 for a data cable seperately and Rs 600 for an 8gb micro SD card.

After two weeks of usage the below are my points of observation:

1. The phone has a slim and sleek design with a steel front finish and a black matty plastic rear panel.
2. The display of the phone is Chrystal clear with a 2.2 inch TFT display.
3..The keys of the phone are ultra soft in touch which gives a feel of class.
3. The 2 MP camera is pretty decent and clarity is good without any dots or haze in the snaps.
4. The call clarity of the phone is very good.
5. The dual sim feature of the phone works well. There is a side key option for switching between sims and you can choose different colour themes to identify which sim you are actively using at a given point of time.
6. The battery of the phone is of 1000 mah capacity and lasts for about 3-4 days depending upon usage.
7. The highlight of the phone which bowled me over was the quality of audio in the Music Player. The sound is excellent with the technical definition of "integrated 3D surround with DRM" as described by the company. It is just amazing.
8. The music player of the phone is real class. It reads the memory card music files automatically, segregates in library, artists, albums, genres etc. It has graphic equalizers classified into Normal, auto, pop, rock, jazz, dance, classic, live, wide, concert hall, music clarity, bass enhancement and externalization. The graphics are effects are distinctive in each selection. You can create your own playlists too. I created my own playlists of English Classic, Hindi, Devotional, Ghazals, Instrumental etc.The audio in headphones is to be heard to be believed. It is just amazing. The audio in the external speaker is also crisp and clear and fairly loud.
9. The phone has built in memory of 46 MB and expandable upto 16 GB. I bought a micro SD card of 8 GB. The phone gives you option to choose default memory for messages, internet, photos etc. I have chosen default for everything as my card obviously.
10. The phone gives you option of locking the phone by passwords at different levels like when you switch it on, you can also lock your contacts and message folders for privacy.
11.The phone has a back up manager to create back up for contacts, photos, messages from phone to micro SD card and vice versa. I could copy all the details of contacts from my back up in a micro SD directly into the phone at a go.

RATING: 4/5
