Review on Great Punjab Restaurant & Bar - Dadar - Bombay - Mumbai

Today, I read Review about Great Punjab Restaurant & Bar - Dadar - Bombay - Mumbai on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

I remember exiting the Mahalakshmi Temple along with my parents on a sultry Saturday evening dating back to my childhood and taking the cab to a heavily illuminated restaurant on Dr. Ambedkar Road called Great Punjab. The experience there was absolutely amazing, to put it in brief! The food was 10/10: the Malai Kofta was temptingly creamy, the naans had a smooth white buttery texture and the Pulao had just the right amount of spice. The ambiance was totally family-suited. In all, I felt like coming back to the place. But, I never got a chance to do so until recently on my Dad’s birthday.

Hoping that the restaurant wouldn’t have changed after so many years, we chose GP for our Dad’s birthday celebration (also because my sister had won discount vouchers at a quiz contest). We chose lunchtime for the party. Since the voucher was meant for two, we were told that the four of us would get a 50% discount. So, they were accommodating enough on that front.

I expected to see the grand restaurant that I had been to years before. But on entering what I saw was nothing but wear-and-tear that the eatery had encountered over the years. Somehow I felt that the place had shrunk in size; that it had become murkier and shadier, and looked like a bar more than a restaurant. Except for us and two men drinking beer, there was no patronage at all (though some customers came in later).

Serving time was approximately 7-8 minutes after placing the order.

Review on X Factor India

Today, I read Review about X Factor India on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

I am fond of watching reality shows and eagerly wait weekends. These days I am busy in X factor, so thought of sharing my views/ reviews on it.

History - You might be wondering that what can be the history of a show that started just 20 days back. But since I have noticed that the advertisements always claim this show as the biggest reality show in the world. Out of inquisitiveness I searched over net and got some amazing history of this show.

The X factor (Xtra Factor) is a television show that originated in UK in September 2004. It is a singing competition that is been held in various countries. The creator of this format is Simon Cowell.
This
is the first time that this show is being aired in India.

X Factor India

Format- The show is primarily concerned with identifying singing talent, though appearance, personality, stage presence and dance routines are also an important element of the performances.

The competition is split into three categories:
1. Solo Singers aged 16–24,
2. Solo Singers aged 25 and over, and
3. Vocal Groups (including duos).

This is the only show where the performances are judged in a Live Concert.

Total 124 performers were selected from the audition round and after 3 rounds, 12 of these were selected for the final performances in the Live Concerts. These 12 performers are divided into three groups as mentioned above, and are performing as per the choices of one or other judges.

Mentors- The mentors of the show are three great personalities of Bollywood- Sanjay Leela Bhanshali, Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. These mentors are also the judges of this hsow. The show is being hosted by Aditya Narayan.

SLB is the mentor of the Vocal Group, SN is the mentor of below 25, and SG is the mentor of above 25

Review on Chandigarh

Today, I read Review about Chandigarh on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

Of all the places, I usually tour in my Company, the best place I love staying in is Chandigarh. After my, Mumbai, Chandigarh is the City I Love. It’s Clean, its Spacious, its Artistic, its Sheer Beauty, something, which you can over & over again & still feel like you’ve not had enough of it. That’s India’s Most Beautiful & Well-Planned City, Chandigarh.

Fortunately, our Company has a Branch here, & I can visit here. I say, thanks to our Branch Manager, there, a polite & excellent guide, who would take me sight-seeing in Chandigarh, in the evenings, I came to know of this City’s immense Beauty. Or normally on my tours, I stay restricted to my office, my hotel
(and of Course the Shopping Area, which female can avoid Shopping!!).

Luckily, whenever I had to visit Chandigarh, the IT problems were so major, that my tour would not be less than 3 days. Unlike other trips where I would be like a ‘Fish out of Water’, to get back to My home, Mumbai, here in Chandigarh, I wud actually feel sorry when going to the airport, back to Mumbai, with 5 bags instead of the 2 bags, I had come with. What can I do?. This Beautiful City has so many lovely things, for a tourist to buy. (& a shopaholic like Cattie !! can buy everything beautiful, she sets her eyes on !!)

I love looking at the native people of Chandigarh, they are equally beautiful. Tall, fair & all with cream & rosy cheeks !!

Chandigarh, they say, is, the dream city of India’s first Prime Minister, Shri. Jawahar Lal Nehru. (Shocking how little we know of our country!!). He was intimately involved with the Chandigarh project. The city was planned by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. Picturesquely located at the foothills of Shivaliks, it is known as one of the best experiments in urban planning & modern architecture in the twentieth century in India. As the capital of the states of Punjab & Haryana, & the Union Territory of Chandigarh it is a prestigious city. India’s first planned city, is a rich, prosperous, spic & span, green city rightly called “ THE CITY BEAUTIFUL”

Review on Road, The - Cormac Mccarthy

Today, I read Review about Road, The - Cormac Mccarthy on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

What will happen after the final apocalypse? If there will be no life afterwards? What if everything goes kaboom? I bought this book during my US stay for 8$, when I found this book in the shop (the Publix), from where me and my colleagues buys our daily groceries. I saw the cover of the book, checked the synopsis, glanced through the novel, and atlast I bought this 2006 published novel, during my stay in the year 2008-09, it was already in the Top 5 list of the store’s best novels list. Today, when I was going through my books’ collection, I found this one, and here I am to share about it.

In short -Set in post-apocalyptic timeline, simple languag
e, relationship based, with the feeling of being alone, but yes, the story is wafer thin, which is extended through 287 pages.

The Plot: There is a father and a son, who is still a child, and they’re alone on the earth. The earth which is full with falling ashes, vegetation burnt out, empty homes, chilly weathers, and they’re walking South, towards the seas and the warming weather, if any. The problem is, father is coughing out blood, and the son is younger who couldn’t live without him, or even survive. Only "Bad men" are there, which may hunt down all "good people" on the road, the road they’re taking to South. They are pushing cart alongwith, try to fetch as many food as they can from deserted food malls, and homes, they have to take the road, but they cannot walk on it, since it can attract bad people, and they can kill them for food. They just have one rifle with just 1 round. They are once followed by a poor-looking beggar, son insisted his father to give him some food, but father is reluctant, since he cannot believe any one in the world of only vultures. In the last, father died, son cried for 3 days, but atlast found by an existing good family.

The book and the author: The book is 287 pages long, and is published in 2006 by Vintage International, I got it for 8$, 2.5 years back. You can get it at flipkart.com for Rs.162. One movie is also made on the same plot in 2009 with the same name starring Viggo Mortensen. This book is written by Cormac McCarthy, an american novelist and playwriter, and born on 20th july,1933 at Rhode Island. His other novels include the highly acclaimed "No Country for Old Men", whose movie adaptation had won 4 academy awards. Other works include novels like - Blood Meridian, The Orchard Keeper (1st novel), Child of God, All the Pretty Horses, The Crossing etc, and upcoming The Passenger

Review on Lazeez Restaurant - Bangalore

Today, I read Review about Lazeez Restaurant - Bangalore on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

Just today I have visited this place and can’t stop myself from writing a review about this restaurant. It is situated at the 5th block of Koramangala, Bangalore; just opposite to the famous Jyothi Nivas College. It’s very easy to reach, as many other landmarks like The Empire hotel, Infosys Reddy’s building office, Hydrabad house, etc are at the stone’s throw distance. The credit of disovering this place entirely goes to my hubby, who often comes here for his lunch. Their specialty is Roll, and no doubt, these rolls are really so delicious.

Ambiance and Decor:
Nothing much to say in this category. The kitchen is at the ground floor, because it is easy to make and serve rolls in an open-air kitchen. The main customers are the students of Jyothi Nivas college in weekdays, but today also we noticed quite a big crowd there. The sitting arrangements are at the first floor. Getting a table is a general problem in weekends. Somehow we managed a table near the AC, as it was horribly hot at the corner tables. However, the smoke and smells from ground floor can become a problem if you are sitting near the staircase. Unfortunately our table was there,we had to ignore that. No music, nobody expects one also; we waited for the waiter to take the order.

Customer service:
I should say, they are quite slow and god-knows-why, seems distracted most of the time. A person came to take order after 10 minutes,of which I made a note. Quite unusual,no water was served to us till the food arrived. The food came after 25 minute’s wait, then only the water was served! Well, the main reason for the delay should be our order ,I thought. As we ordered the Murg Sheek Kebab and Chicken Egg roll along with Coke, we thought that the preparation time will be like that. So when the food arrived after a long wait,we didn’t mind really. But to my surprise, the Kebabs were just warm, not hot. If they prepare it now,it should be hot. The rolls also didn’t come as per our orders, they served the chicken roll without the egg. When told, they changed it promptly, which is appreciable. The coke was not served till we were half way finishing our kebabs,so we reminded them about it. We were informed then that coke is over. We decided to take Sprite instead. Billing and other services were good,we didn’t get any other odd to notice.

Review on Singham Movie

Today, I read Review about Singham Movie on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

GHAJINI, WANTED, DABANGG, SINGHAM....That is right.   If you liked Ghajini, Wanted & Debang, Singham is a must watch for you. If you didn’t like them Singham is
not for you.   No compromise tribute to the G-olden era action movies Singham arrives to entertain all masala movie lovers with powerful action, dialogues and style.

It is a story of another fight between good and evil. It is yet another war between an honest police officer (Ajay Devgan) and a Goonda turned politician (Prakash Raj) Villain. The police officer assembles the general public in his favour wher
Singham Movie
e the Goonda gets the full support of politicians, administration and higher police officers. The fight is on!

The best part of the movie is its no compromise determination to provide masala action entertainment.   To the merrit of the writers, they have created a powerful villain and an equally powerful hero.   The fight of equals - that is what we enjoys the best, and that is where Singham scores a point extra. Dialogues are another major plus for Singham.   One to one, Hero ya villain the dialogue writers made merry of each situation to the highest for the delight of the audience.

Remake of Tamil movie Singham, Rohit Shetty tries maximum to enhance the action factor and in the process overdo it to take off some part of the fun.   The movie is more tempted to be Cartoonish in nature, the CID Moosa kind.   However, for Mr. Shetty’s credit he didn’t attempt to deviate much from the ’original’ and retains the success factors intact.

When two national award winning actors comes face to face, sparks are bound to be there. Ajay Devgan & Prakash Raj!   Both gets equally powerful characters and both of them gives out equally brilliant performance.   Ajay Devgan is back with a ROAR and more! He is rock solid, young and still happening, that too in style!   Prakash Raj is a bundle of talent still unexplored.    Even if it is a small role or big role he always does justice to it in style. So is in Singham, he suites the perfect HUNTER! Kajol Agarwal get side lined though she is the heroine (thanks to the two big mountains of talents fight each other) but Kajol brings a lot of freshness to the girl next door character. The supporting cast, one and all did their roles well.

Review on Perfect Match - Jodi Picoult

Today, I read Review about Perfect Match - Jodi Picoult on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

Perfect Match

“Your son has been deeply hurt. You know that court won’t bring you justice”.

Her life was devastated the day when she figured out her son
has been sexually abused. Her working hours, brining justice to the people she’s little attached to, her love for family, everything was at stake. Who did it? Why did he do it? Where will she find him? How will she kill him? The questions were numerous and she didn’t have any clue about how to proceed further.

Nina Frost- was working as a district attorney who knows that court doesn’t bring any justice to people in the fullest form. Her world was shaken when
Perfect Match - Jodi Picoult
her own five year old son Nathaniel was sexually abused. Previous she had a doubt on her husband who was a guardian of Nathaniel in her absence. Things were pretty messed up, when she came to know that it was someone else. Without giving it a second thought, she purchased the pistol and killed the priest. She wasn’t sure whether he was the same person who did it or not? Going through all the circumstances, she discovers that she has killed the wrong person for all the wrong reasons? Being a prosecutor, she didn’t wait for the court to take her decisions. Will she kill the person who did it? How will she forgive herself for all the wrong deeds?

Caleb- is an interesting man. He does stonework i.e. brick paths, fireplaces, granite steps and stone walls. He’s very attached with his son. He’s not insane, single-minded and opinionated like Nina. He knows that every question has an answer. Similarly, every person who has committed a sin will get a punishment in return. He loves Nina and got married to her. They both have been so busy in their lives, never got an opportunity to find out what’s bothering their five year old kid. Coming across the truth, fighting against odds, trying to help Nathaniel to have the same feelings, they both ended up in creating a huge distance. Silence was the only thing that existed between them. He always wanted to be a good father and husband. He didn’t commit any sin except being someone’s husband who has killed the priest that too a wrong priest.

Review on - Cidade de Goa Beach Resort

Today, I read Review about Cidade de Goa Beach Resort on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

We visited Goa in April 2011 and stayed at Taj Vivanta, Fort Aguada for three days and then thought of exploring another resort and hence decided to go to Cidade de Goa at Dona Paula. That was the worst mistake that ruined the final taste of our holiday to a great extent.

Check-in was smooth and we were shown to our rooms without much wait. The room rent was the same as what we had paid at the Taj, but the rooms and service were not even 50% of what Taj offered. The toilet was the worst – the bathtub was yellow in places, the ceiling of the toilet had fungus growing at the corners, and there was a strange stink in the toilet. The bath fittings were old and ill maintained with water getting clogged in the tub and the basin. The shower was squeezing out water in all different directions except for your head and there was no hand shower. The furniture was rickety and none of the drawers opened smoothly. The wooden flooring was worn out. I have stayed in better rooms at 3 star hotels. The electric sockets were all round Indian types and were hard to spot as they were hidden at the side of the table. Considering the amount of foreign visitors that Goa gets, they should have offered adaptors. I was not able to charge my phone, iPad, and camera because they all required the vertical US-type sockets. There was a big hole in the bathrobe provided and the guests were asked to sign for the number towels that they took at the pool. The TV in the room was old CRT 21 inch with a small choice of channels. I won’t even compare it to Taj where the bathroom was sleek and spacious with glass partition, shower cabinet, rain shower, hand shower, a great tub, 31 inch LCD TV, fruit basket, and a lot more of such fine details that make your visit worthwhile.

Review on KPN Travels - Bangalore

Today, I read Review about KPN Travels - Bangalore on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

KPN is one of the few travels to operate bus services daily to all the cities in Tamilnadu from Chennai and Bangalore. For more than 5 years I am travelling regularly in KPN buses but never faced problems. But last week I had a very bad experience with KPN which I want to share with MS.

I booked two tickets to Thiruvarur from salem in Bangalore- Velankanni AC sleeper bus. The booking guys gave me a hand written ticket instead of printout. When I asked them about the hand written ticket, they said nothing to worry. Bus was an hour late, me and my wife boarded the bus.
Early morning around 4 ‘o’ clock the bus reached Trichy and some passenger got down. Then the driver was looking for some passenger and finally he came to me and enquired where I have to get down. I told him that I have to get down at Tiruvarur. But driver has a different counter ticket mentioning my seat numbers and dropping point as Trichy. I was surprised to see the ticket with same seat number but different dropping point. He told me to get down, I showed him my ticket which is mentioned as Tiruvarur. But he was not in a mood to listen and started behaving rudely

Review on - Nokia x6

Today, I read Review about Nokia x6 on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

Nokia x6 comes in three versions basically 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. Basic difference between all three models is of memory. I purchased nokia in Oct 2010 16 GB version. To get a better view will cover it in different aspect.

1) Design and durability: it’s a bar touchscreen phone with fibre body. It’s not slim but rather bulky. Quite thick. No gloss finish. A very very simple design. Plastic quality is good and doesn’t feel cheap. Since my purchase i have dropped this phone many a times and i found no scratch or no tearing. It’s durable which one of the most required aspects is.

2) Camera: it comes with 5 MP cam with dual LED flash (which can also be used as torch). Camera quality is good but not the best. I wish camera could have been much better.

3) Battery life: quite long lasting battery. I use internet and use it for calling where it exceeds 2hrs a day. It lasts really well. After a complete recharge it can run for 24hrs. With battery one should not have any complains.

4) Sound quality: basically it’s a music edition phone means an edition have special attention on sound quality, but i am bit disappointed. Speakers are ok and sometimes they lose their clarity at full volume. I am really disappointed with the headphone quality. They lack good sound quality esp. when its music edition. Music output on 5.1 or external speakers are really very good, no complains about it. 16 GB version also comes with unlimited music downloads with ovi music for one year. Good service.

5) Processing & productivity: i am satisfied with the processing speed. It’s Average, neither too fast nor too slow. In short optimum. Touchscreen is responsive, no complaints. Talking about productivity it comes with many application like quick office and pdf reader, dictionary pre-installed, if not you can install them. Many useful applications are available at ovi store. Hence, can get your work done.

Review on - Pioneer HTZ 101DVD

Today, I read Review about Pioneer HTZ 101DVD on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

The Mandate : Find a small 5.1 home theater box (HTB) system in a box for the “In laws” – It should be easy to use, builtin dvd player, USB port, not expensive and preferably have small speakers (wireless connectivity if possible). So out I went in search of a HTB which would fulfill their requirements and have decent sound to boot – it is very important to please the "In laws", your marriage is dependent on that!!!!

The benchmark was the Pioneer system at Rs. 9,000 (price excludes customs) – with no printed or any online/mouthshut review, it was time to do some groundwork. Considering the “In laws” already have a
Samsung LED Tv – having a Samsung HTB might solve some interface issues and the pleasure of only one remote control. So I looked at the Samsung HT-D550/D650 series. The 650 being able to play additional formats (from a USB). Loved the metal look of the speaker cones and the sleek head unit. It sounded decent in the dealer shop. They are wireless speaker ready but require an adaptor costing an extra Rs.5k. With the D550/650 costing in the range of Rs.13,500 – Samsung got shot down. Another big factor is that I really do not trust Samsung with Audio (their recent foray into this area) although I’m confident of their capabilty – with a price reduction and with some latest tech, they’ll soon compete with the best.

Next was the big daddy of budget audio music, Sony. The unit was Sony Bravia DZ 170. On first looks the unit seemed better built – the metal grills of the speakers shouted quality (unlike the cloth grills of others in this range) – It’s a Sony. Sony units however have a tendency of being “Bass” heavy – and this was no exception. Overall the sound was not impressive especially the clarity/highs. The unit being Rs.1,000 more than the pioneer sealed its fate. It was no more going to be "a Sony".

Looked at a Phillip’s unit and then just looked away – the look itself was not appealing and looked really cheap - Didn’t even bother listening to the system. LG faced the same fate as Samsung – do not trust their audio equipment at the moment.

Review on - Nandi Hills

Today, I read Review about Nandi Hills on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

This was the first weekend we had with us to spare with no work, since the time I had relocated to Bangalore. We wanted to go out somewhere which is close by and worth spending a day. I had already pulled out ‘285 Tourist places Bangalore’ from mustseeindia.com for our next two years. After a quick check, Nandi Hills was the first choice for us. We were 7 in all, so one car wasn’t sufficient. I decided to take my brand new Blue Avy 220 (Bajaj Avenger) for a ride. The plan was, we will start by 0330 morning and reach there by 0500 and then plan for the rest of the day, accordingly.

Nandi hills is 60 km from Majestic (75
Nandi Hills
kms from my flat) at an altitude of 1478 metres above sea level. It’s a cluster of small hills with marvellous cliffs. Without going into the history (which is anyway flooded in internet) I will take you to the ride. To note Bangalore is 949 mtrs above sea level. So travel 529 mtrs to reach Nandi Hills.
An evening before that I had bought myself a pair of pro-biking gloves, a lovely ‘Studds’ helmet. My wife already had an old helmet without a visor. It was quite cold (20th Feb) so I geared-up myself with the riding gear and so did my wife. While I and wife were on the bike, others got into the car. Plan to start by 0330 actually turned out to be 0350, which means we may miss the most sought after sunrise from Nandi Hills. With one stop for gas, we directly headed for the destination. The route is fairly simple with lots of direction boards both on NH7 (Hyderabad express highway) and the by-lane to Nandi hills. Although the Nandi hills are through a dual lane road, however the quality of the road is good. While the car was zooming at 85-90 on NH7 I restricted myself to 45-50, the bike being a new one. The frustration is even some of the mopeds overtook me on the way, while I kept starring at them L. I must say Avenger is indeed a bike for cruising. Such a comfortable, stable, sturdy bike. My wife loves the stability it has and the smoothness. I never felt tired during the entire drive. Although, I guess the rear seat was not that comfortable for a long ride.

Review on India Coffee House - Bangalore

Today, I read Review about India Coffee House - Bangalore  on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

This place is one of those ’Bangalore heritage sites’, not an eating destination per se ! As a further indication that times have moved on from the zeitgeist of this unglamorous place, India Coffee House has been displaced from its original MG Road location to a place on Church Street where further down the street towards Brigade road, you’ll find trendy cafes like ’Matteo’ whose facade could occupy any of the world’s cosmopolitan loci. ICH ,meanwhile, with its yester-year ,slightly mofussil, definitely nostalgic air and settings doesnt need the gloss to draw in its customers because the regulars and curious souls will keep percolating in, to check out this old-town representative. Its eponymous product- a strong cup of coffee (with sugar and a bit of milk , not the American crude oil version!) - is arguably an added attraction for many, with the humble modestly priced menu not offering any transcendent delights. Still, in a style somewhat similar to Koshys parade cafe (not Koshys Jewel box!), this place succeeds in creating some reminiscence of the city’s past decades.

Ambience and Service- Its glass front looks out on a compact grassy forecourt. The interior has glass walls on two sides, and the back of this small joint has the kitchen and the cramped, run-down hand-wash space(which could obviously do with some sprucing up).The walls are blue-washed, with clocks on either side, a photo of Mahatma Gandhi (he’d appreciate the spartan atmosphere here but not the mutton cutlets!) ;on one side, there’s a big mirror reflecting a major chunk of the place’s interiors(is it for or against indoor espionage?!) .The floor has small blue tiles, tables are formica topped and the atmosphere is neither stuffy nor expansive. The white-uniformed turbaned waiters do brisk service, ably encouraged by the ultra-fast kitchen. In many places, you ponder why the food takes so long to arrive, but here you’ll wonder how they bang out the dishes so fast!

Food- Taste is above average to middling. Within five minutes of our order, the dishes started started steadily coming in- the one thing patrons wont complain about here is the speed of order arrival! Prices are very reasonable. Past customers recommended the Masala Dosa (Rs.26). I’d say its still above average- ,-but you’ll find that many MD aficionados & connoisseurs will criticize it. The dosa texture and mouth-feel doesnt have that X-factor that keeps the customers religiously attracted to masala dosa hot-spots like Vidhyarthi Bhavan and Upahara Darshini (UD)-Gandhinagar branch. The potato-based masala and chutney dont spike up the experience either . They’ll need to bring in some dosa experts to revitalize this item’s appeal in ICH.

Review on - Samsung LA32C530F1RMXL

Today, I read Review about Samsung LA32C530F1RMXL  on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

Please note:My review looks more of like my personal journey rather than concentrating on technical spec’s.Those who might be looking for the latter,

1. Affordable (between 25- 35 K) cost. (2) Should be able to watch as close as from 5-6 Feet distance (though my hall is more than more than 20 feet length).(3) Would prefer model capable of playing movies/music through USB (I have 100s of movies on my portable hard drive).(4) Of course, best picture/sound , should be better than my old CRT(otherwise I cant justify my buy to my parents as it is double the cost of CRTs) (5). Should be possible to continue using Cable connection (I have 2 TVs at home for which I pay Rs.180 per month for both TVs).   may feel disappointed but feel free to drop your comments I can add some more information to this review.

My Requirements:
My requirement was simple like many others.
1. Affordable (between 25- 35 K) cost. Research:
As my once favourite 8 years old Sony 21" CRT gave up on a D-Day, I was left with no choice but to start my hunt for a new TV, which was actually planned for 2012! Here goes the research....

As I stated, Cost is going to be vital factor for me to zero in a model, I started researching how to kick off some ’unnecessary features’ in order to shrink the cost.
My first target was if its gng to be fine with HD Ready, kicking out Full HD, thus saving on some bucks. After gng tru’ some sites, the recommended viewing distance, and some extra equipment needed for HD Ready to hv HD experience, the pros n cons, I parked the idea for a while, thought of deciding on it after a ’field trip’ (showrooms).
The next target was if I kill my love for USB feature, how the cost is going to vary.Next target was, moving away from my old love "Sony", exploring other brands, reducing the cost of ownership. But having said that,I was still sticking to my ’mission statement’ NO compromise on the quality at any COST!(sound hypocrite, right? ;) ) .

On a different note, Should buying TVs be so complicated experience. For an IBM man, its fine but what about the layman.I am sure the salesmen must be having a field day with the advent of LCDs/Plasmas.

Review on - Dhabba By Surendra Mohan Pathak

Today, I read Review about Dhabba By Surendra Mohan Pathak  on Mouthshut.com – the Consumer Review Website.

Hindi mystery writer Surendra Mohan Pathak possesses the knack of mixing humour in his whodunnits. It applies mainly to his Sunil Series novels whose hero is an investigative journalist. Today I am reviewing a relatively recent novel of his (published last year only) in which the complete opening chapter is dedicated to humour only and the mystery which is the main theme of the novel follows that. The name of this highly entertaining murder mystery is Dhabba (stain).

Since Mr. Pathak commands great knowledge of Urdu language and Sher-O-Shaayari too, he has used this knowledge of his in creating humour through the hero’s Punjabi friend, Ramakant Malhotra. The readers who have some general awareness of Sher-O-Shaayari (Urdu poetry), will laugh like anything while going through the opening chapter of this whodunnit.

Dhabba starts with a Mushaayara (the conference of Urdu poetry) arranged in the Youth Club (run by Ramakant) where the hero of the novel, Sunil reaches. Ramakant alongwith Sunil enters the Mushaayara and gets irritated to listen to the nonsense Ghazals and Nazms being recited by most of the Shaayars (Urdu poets). He then declares that he will also recite Shers (Urdu couplets). He recites Shers in his own style and interacts with the Shaayars present there. These incidents lead to a laugh-riot for the reader. Sunil, being more sensible than his friend, drags him out of the conference hall which is the venue of the Mushaayara. Thereafter the friends start discussing the real issue which is the problem of a publisher, running a semi-porno magazine who also happens to be the arranger of that Mushaayara in the club. He, in fact, runs something like a friendship club under the pretext of running the slightly indecent magazine and earns through the advertisers whose posts are received at the post boxes provided by him.
